Derek Michalski

Derek Michalski is an abstract photographer, lifetime poet and occasionally a painter, operating mostly within the abstract. Using multiple photography techniques to create his images he blends the traditional darkroom approach with modern on-screen methods of picture development and manipulation to create images that originate in what surrounds him but, transformed by his artistic vision, depart from that reality to constitute its own.

In his poetry he does not follow, or stay loyal to any one technique. Each poem originates differently and through its theme, pace and feeling takes on a different writing skill. Many will find it rather eclectic – Michalski sees in it a genuine reflection on how life changes us as we go through it.
